Hello Scrapping for Less Family,

I had the pleasure of interviewing Madison Parker over the phone this week for our Brand Focus for October! He is the owner of Echo Park/Carta Bella and could not be a nicer person. I was delighted to meet him in person back in May when I attended the Orlando Scrapbook Expo, what a sweet and wonderful guy he is! I have since developed a wonderful relationship with the people at this fabulous company and wanted to include them in our Brand Focus and introductions to the website each month.

Now, I know this brand is not totally brand new to Scrapping for Less but I am sure you are going to be wowed by the Design Teams items they bring to you this month.

Now, onto the interview…

Q: When was Echo Park formed? and how?

A: After working in the industry for 10 years Madison decided it was time for a change. So,as Madison and his partners lunched at Macaroni Grill one afternoon Echo Park was formed.  By the next morning the company was formed and Madison found that he was in need of some designers for paper and embellishments.

Q: How many designers work for Echo Park?
A: So, as Madison was working and forming the company the first order of business was to find designers. He found Crystal Wilkerson (a former digital graphic designer) to start on the paper and then found another designer to begin to design stickers and embellishments to round out the collection. So the first Echo Park Collection was created “Sweet Summertime” Echo Park has expanded to have 12 designers that currently design those papers that we all have come to love!
Q: How many employees does Echo Park have?
A: Echo Park currently has around 30 employees. Every single one that I have spoken with or dealt with in ordering product for Scrapping for Less has been absolutely more than wonderful.
Q: What is the process of coming up with the designs for the papers?
A: Madison shared with me that the whole objective of all the designs is with the retailer in mind. They want to make papers that you and I as the consumer will fall in love with and that those papers will sell well in the stores.
Q: What is your favorite line of paper?
A: Madison’s favorite line of paper is the most recent “A Very Merry Christmas” which is a Carta Bella line of papers. This paper is soooo cute with the retro look of all those adorable images.
Q: Does Echo Park have a set release schedule?
A:Echo park certainly does have a set release. They release at least 1 or more lines a month and Carta Bella releases 1 line a month. Of course around showtime: January and July the consumer is thrilled with the fact there is more to love because more is released during those months.
Q: What can we expect in the near future from Echo Park?
A: Madison shared with me that I could quote his Creative Director, Alisha Gordon Whitcomb as saying “January (the Creativation trade show in Phoenix) will be the best designed lineup ever released…and the most ever released.”
Q: Any exclusives you can let our fans in on?
A: A big change is coming in January at the show: All dies have been redesigned with the cardmaker in mind, smaller dies, more dies, and the best of all the price point of those dies is dropping!
WOW!! This is one fantastic company and I feel totally blessed that I can be one of their customers!
